  8.  To install VINES 6.0 software on a DOS NDIS 
  9.  workstation, follow these instructions.  DOS 
  10.  must be installed on the target workstation 
  11.  C: drive, or you must have a bootable DOS floppy.
  12.  
  13.  1.  Use the DOS MD command to create a subdirectory 
  14.      called \VINES.
  15.  
  16.  2.  Copy the contents of the VINES LAN S/W (DOS) 
  17.      Install diskette into the \VINES subdirectory.
  18.  
  19.  3.  Copy the contents of the NDIS subdirectory on 
  20.      the VINES LAN S/W (DOS) 2 of 2 diskette into 
  21.      the \VINES subdirectory.
  22.  
  23.  4.  Copy the PROTOCOL.INI fragment from the 
  24.      \MSLANMAN.DOS\DRIVERS\ETHERNET\ELPC3 subdirectory
  25.      on the EtherDisk diskette to the \VINES subdirectory.

  27.  5.  Edit the PROTOCOL.INI file to read as follows:

  29.      [PROTOCOL MANAGER]
  30.       DRIVERNAME = PROTMAN$
  31.  
  32.      [VINES_XIF]
  33.       DRIVERNAME = NDISBAN$
  34.       BINDINGS = ELINKPC3
  35.  
  36.      [ELINKPC3]
  37.       DRIVERNAME = ELPC3$
  38.          
  39.  6.  Run the PCCONFIG.EXE program located in the 
  40.      \VINES subdirectory.
  41.  
  42.  7.  Select option 1, Network Card Settings.
  43.  
  44.  8.  Select the NDIS Ethernet option.
  45.  
  46.  9.  The NDIS workstation screen appears.  Enter 
  47.      the IRQ that you selected for the EtherLink/PC Card 
  48.      adapter.  Select the IRQ using the Configuration
  49.      and Diagnostic Program. 
  50.                   
  51.  10. Edit the CONFIG.SYS file and add the following 
  52.      lines, substituting A: for C: for a floppy 
  53.      disk installation.

  55.      DEVICE = C:\VINES\PROTMAN.DOS /I:C:\VINES
  56.      DEVICE = C:\VINES\ELPC3.DOS
  57.  
  58.  11. Add the BAN command to the AUTOEXEC.BAT file.  
  59.      BAN loads the NDISBAN drivers and reads the 
  60.      PCCONFIG.DB file to invoke changes made during the
  61.      PCCONFIG stage.
